Forma

Privacy

Forma is developed and operated by Aidan Lowrie. This notice covers the app and its support website. Updated 20 October 2026.

Practice on your device

Your practice history, answers, progress and preferences stay on your device unless you choose one of the sharing options below. Learn works without sharing data. Your device’s normal backups may include Forma’s local data.

You can export your practice history or delete it in Settings. Turning off history stops new records being saved; it does not remove existing history or data already shared.

Optional answer sharing

Answer sharing is off by default. In this beta, only people aged 18 or older may opt in. Choosing not to share does not limit the quizzes or Learn.

With your consent, Forma shares future quiz answers and practice information: which questions you answered, your choices, correctness, response times and question order, together with quiz and app information. Earlier history and unrecognised typed text are not uploaded.

Records use a random identifier that links your sessions. They do not include your name, email, location or Game Center identity, but they are still personal data because your sessions can be linked.

Aidan Lowrie uses these records to study learning and forgetting and improve Forma’s practice algorithms. They are not sold, used for advertising, published as individual datasets or sent to third-party AI services.

Cloudflare hosts the service on our behalf. Shared answer records are stored in the European Union. Hosting providers also process connection information, such as IP addresses, for delivery and security; some processing may occur internationally under their data-processing terms.

Shared answer records are kept indefinitely for this research unless you withdraw and request deletion. Records collected under the earlier 12-month policy keep that limit.

Turn sharing off in Settings to pause uploads and keep existing shared records. Re-enabling resumes the same research record. You can export records or use “Withdraw & delete research data” to remove them, including records held under earlier consent. If offline, deletion retries when connected; keep Forma installed until it is confirmed. Hosting backups may take longer to clear. Deleting local history alone does not delete shared records.

Diagnostics

Forma shares technical diagnostics automatically after showing an in-app notice. You can turn off “Share diagnostics” in Settings at any time, without limiting the app. This choice is separate from optional answer sharing.

Reports contain crash signals and sanitized stack frames; launch, hang, CPU, memory, disk-write and board-load measurements; and fixed technical error codes. They include the app version and build, operating-system version, hardware model and UTC day. They do not include quiz answers, typed text, names, email addresses, location, research IDs, Game Center identities or persistent device identifiers. Each report has its own identifier so retries are not counted twice. Forma does not join diagnostics to answer-sharing records or use them to identify or profile people.

Cloudflare processes the reports on our behalf to help us find technical faults and improve Forma’s reliability and performance. Diagnostic reports expire 30 days after receipt and are removed by daily cleanup. Reports waiting offline are kept in a bounded queue on your device, excluded from backups. Turning sharing off stops new collection and uploads and clears that queue. It cannot recall a report already received by the server. Reports are not used for advertising, sold or shared with third-party AI services.

We process these limited technical reports for our legitimate interest in detecting faults and maintaining a reliable app, with an easy right to object through the Settings switch. Hosting providers also process connection information for delivery and security. Apple controls when MetricKit reports become available; crash and daily performance reports can arrive later, on a subsequent launch, and are not guaranteed for every incident.

Optional location

Location is off by default. If you enable it, Apple’s services use your location to suggest quizzes for your country. Forma keeps only the country code on your device and does not upload your location. While enabled, your country refreshes when you return to Forma after an hour; it also refreshes when you request an update. You can choose a country manually or turn location off in the app or your device’s Settings.

Game Center and sharing results

Game Center is optional. If you connect and enable sharing, eligible future results are sent to Apple and associated with your Game Center profile. Other players may see your name and scores according to Apple’s settings. Turning sharing off stops new submissions; manage existing scores and profile privacy through Apple. See Apple’s Game Center privacy information.

Sharing a quiz or result uses your device’s share sheet. Nothing is sent until you choose a destination and complete sharing.

Website and support

The support website has no advertising or analytics scripts. Its hosting providers, GitHub and Cloudflare, may process standard connection information to serve and secure the pages. External links, including Buy Me a Coffee, have their own privacy policies.

If you contact support, we use your email and the information you send to answer your request. We keep correspondence only as needed to resolve it and meet applicable obligations. Forma does not sell personal data or track you across other companies’ apps and websites.

Contact and your rights

Email formaquiz.support@proton.me for privacy questions or requests to access, correct or delete your data. For shared answers, your research ID helps us find your records; do not send passwords or credentials.

Optional answer sharing and location rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time. We process support messages and essential service information to respond to requests and operate the service. Depending on your location, you may also have rights to restrict or object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority, including the UK Information Commissioner’s Office. Material changes will be reflected in this notice.
